Til Schweiger for Vsya Evropa

I met Til Schweiger while he was shooting his first Tatort episode in Hamburg on the site of
the Elbe Philharmonic Hall.
In Germany Til Schweiger is best known for his box office hits like Keinohrhasen and Zweiohrküken and
his appearance in the critically acclaimed Tarantino flick Inglourious Basterds.

Til only had time during his lunch break which left us about 15 minutes to wrap everything up
after the interview was through. Thanks to my local assistant
the wonderful photographer Bernd Freudendorfer who'd warmly welcomed me to winterly
Hamburg and efficiently kept me from getting to much sleep we got all the shots we needed
and left Mr. Schweiger some time to pick up a quick lunch before heading off to shoot the next scene.

The pics were taken last December(2012) (Tatort nr 865: "Willkommen in Hamburg" aired March 2013) but I
hadn't had the chance to pick up a copy of Vsya Evropa until late September this year
while shooting Mila Anufrieva for the next to come issue (10/2013).
Besides I'm not the biggest updater in the world.

I prefer showing the magazine instead of just uploading the files.
Usually I scanned the issue but I think from now on I'll stick to photos of the layout
giving the whole thing a stronger visual haptic so to speak.

Til hat uns seine Mittagspause zur Verfügung gestellt für Interview und Portraitsession,
auf die am Ende knappe 15 Minute entfielen.
Dem Fernsehkenner schon seit der Lindenstraßentage ein Begriff, wird der in den USA lebende
Schweiger mittlerweile auch in internationalen Kassenschlagern, wie zuletzt Tarentinos
Inglourious Basterds, besetzt.


Danke dem wundervollem Fotograf Bernd Freudendorfer,
der sich glücklicherweise überreden
ließ mir zu assistieren und die Nacht vorher schon willkommen geheißen und
vom Schlafen abgehalten hatte, ware das Shooting extrem effizient und Til konnte sogar noch
was essen bevor weiter gedreht wurde.
Vom Interview gibts keine Bilder, da der Wohnwagen als Kulisse eher mager war und man
außer "klack-klack" eh nichts mehr hätte hören können.

Die Ausgabe habe ich erst Ende September in die Finger bekommen, wobei die Bilder schon
Ende 2012 gemacht wurden. Die Tatortfolge Nr. 865 "Willkommen in Hamburg" lief am
10.März 2013 auf ARD und war die erste aus der neuen Hamburg Serie. Zwischendrin
kam auch mal wieder ne Folge mit Cenk...aber vielleicht war die auch alt.
Auf jeden Fall wollte ich lieber das Magazin zeigen als stumpf die Bilder hochzuladen.
Diesmal wurde fotografiert statt zu scannen um das ganze etwas plastischer darzustellen.

This guy's made generations of kids laugh, it was really cool
to spend some time with him. I had the opportunity to have lunch with
Oleg and later on join him in his trailer to take some pics of his
preparations for the evening.

Fashion's been a while. After having neglected fashionshoots for a while this was
a real thrill.

Boris is about as fast as his serves were.
After a long night of partying and giving dozens of interviews
Boris had 20 Minutes for an(other) interview and some pics.
With someone as experienced as Boris this was no problem.

Anjorka Strechel /// Vsya Evropa

Anjorka has just recently stared in Alexey Uchitel's Golden Globe winning movie KRAI(The Edge).
We got the appointment on very short notice do to Anjorka being really busy promoting the film which was also nominated for an Academy Award in the category Best Foreign Film.

Eventhough she was right in the middle of a cold and a cough she agreed to go outside with us wearing only a thin dress and remained lovely all the way through the shoot.

Ralf Möller /// Vsya EVROPA

When Natalja called to tell me, Ralf Möller was in town
and we'de meet with him in the Hotel de Rôme for an
interview and some photos I couldn't hide my grin.

Everyone I told spoke to about the shoot was very interested
to find out if he's as sympathetic as people say.
And well...yes he is.
Can't remember having laughed that much during an interview.

Karl-Friedrich Scheufele /// Vsya EVROPA

The shoot with Karl was a real rush.
Surrounded by fast (and tremendously expensive) cars Steffi my assistant and I had about 45min to check the scene and set up the lights (and get the dog off the sofa).
After getting stuck in a traffic jam Mr. Scheufeles tight schedule only left us 20min to get the shots.
We were fortunate enough to be able to use a 1920 Horch in our setting.
Mr. Larkamp from E. Thiesen Berlin advised me to think twice about even breathing near the €8million car.

The obligatory was done pretty quick and so we moved on to the jaguar workshop for some freestyle pics using only daylight.
It was very nice to see how Mr. Scheufel, being a passionate oldtimer collector, totally got sucked up by the atmosphere.
